This morning at church we had a guest preacher, and he gave an awesome sermon about humility and grace. Basic summary: clothe yourself in humility every day, and God will give you grace that is sufficient for all your needs.
After church I had a small moment where I confused the word "humility" with "humiliation." I walked out the church door, hung a left, and promptly tripped over the door stop. I didn't stumble or take a couple running steps; instead, I fell down head-long, face planting halfway on the sidewalk, and halfway in the decorative river rocks. My purse went flying (but everything managed to stay in it!), and I stood up with my left pinky finger bleeding, my right knuckles and my right palm scraped and bleeding (don't ask me how I scraped both my palm and my knuckles on the same hand), my chin scraped but fortunately not bleeding, and a nice bump and bruise forming on my left knee. I also had a river rock tightly grasped in my left hand for unexplained reasons.
The only witnesses were a couple from church who were stopped at the stop sign directly in front of me. They did open their door to make sure I was all right, and I assured them I would live, and they could even laugh about it.
For the rest of the day I will endure the jokes about being humble, lying prostrate before the Lord, and bowing in reverence.
Hahaha! I'm glad you're ok...well, not hurt too badly anyway. God just wanted to make sure you really got the idea and wouldn't ever forget it! :)

ReplyDeleteI've always been impressed by your zeal to follow the Lord, whatever He tells you to do. That's certainly walking--er, stumbling--by faith! Bless your heart; I'm glad you're okay.
