Flowers

Scott and I had added flower beds to the front of our house, and I have been slowly filling them up over the last couple years.  I don't want to plant annuals, because I don't want to have to plant them every year!  I prefer to buy the "suffering" perennials for really cheap half-way through the summer, plant them, and wait until the next year to see how they look.  I have been watching them grow this summer in anticipation (and forcing Scott to take daily 'flower viewing' walks in our yard.)  So many are just about ready to bloom, and I can't wait to see what I got!
This plant has tripled in size since last summer, and the blooms are getting close!

A balloon plant!

This guy has a whole bunch of spikey looking things...I don't know if it will also bloom into flowers, or if this is all we will get.
On the vegetable front, I planted 3 zuccini plants--one in the ground, and two in containers filled with fresh Miracle Grow potting soil.  The one in the ground is doing ok, but as you can see in the picture, the ones in the pots are 3 times bigger!  They are also producing like crazy, and soon I will be swimming in zuccini.
