Laundry Room Part 2

Today after church we drove to Ottumwa to buy a few more supplies...trim for the windows and door outside, floor tiles, wood to fill in the crazy-cardboard gap (see yesterday's post), insulation, a new overhead light, etc.  We were able to get most of what we needed.  We could have bought a piece of wood paneling to fill in the gap, but as always, they can't cut it for us, and it doesn't fit in the car!  I guess if you plan on doing any home improvement projects you should just buy a truck...
We did two coats of white on the trim and the doors today.  What an improvement!

Unfortunately, the new paint and trim just makes the old floor look really, really ugly.

Put some insulation in the gap...

And nailed in a piece of wood.  Probably not a "contractor worthy" job, but it's better than wallpapering over a piece of cardboard.

Sneak peek at the new flooring!  We will have to find a time to rip up the old stuff and put this down.  Maybe my dad will come help, he always seems to enjoy putting down peel-n-stick tile.
We are going to borrow a saw from a friend to cut the trim, and will try to get to that...eventually.  Unfortunately we will both be gone the next two weekends, and my next Saturday at home is October 1.  We'll get it done eventually.

  2. You know, we've been trying to get a piece of scrap paneling for 2+ years! I keep thinking someone should have a piece laying around. We finally got a huge 8'x4' picture of Dayton, OH, to fill it in.

That looks really nice and cheerful! We are starting work in our hallway. I'll be painting paneling, too. I'd like to recruit you for that!
