Anniversary Weekend!

Last Friday Scott and I celebrated our 5th anniversary.  We decided to go to Iowa City for a wrestling duel and to spend the night in a hotel.  My mom was generous enough to take care of Laurel for the night, so it was just Scott and me...and the unborn baby.  Going out and about for your anniversary when you are 8 months pregnant can be exhausting, but we enjoyed ourselves.
The wrestling duel was vs. Oklahoma State.  The Hawkeyes were ranked #3 in the nation, and OK St. was ranked #5 in the nation, so we knew it would be a good one.  And, there were a number of matches that were between #1 ranked and #2 ranked wrestlers.

We got there about an hour early.  We ate dinner at Bandana's BBQ, and the food came really quickly, so we figured we would just head over to Carver Hawkeye Arena.  There are no close places to park, and it was rainy, misty, and a bit icy, so I didn't mind having extra time to walk over.  This picture was taken from our seats--not real close, but perfect for me because even when everyone else stood up, I was able to stay in my seat and still see the mat.
Scott is definitely more "into" wrestling than I am.  He wrestled in high school, and I went to a school that didn't have a wrestling program, so I really know very little about wrestling.  But I have found that after someone explains the rules and points, it is fun to watch.  And the matches move along quickly.  Plus, it is fun to sit next to Scott as he leans, grunts, and makes grabbing motions to "help" the wrestlers.
Scott puts a move on Herky.
Iowa won this duel with a team score of 24-6.  The Hawkeyes wrestlers produced a couple upsets, and the people who should win did!  It was fun!

On Saturday morning while we were eating breakfast at our hotel, Scott said, "I love Laurel and having her around, but everything sure is easier without a kid along!"  I laughed and agreed.  Then we went back to our room, where we discovered a text message from my mom saying that Laurel had thrown up and was running a temperature, and was spending the morning sleeping.  Now we have guilt!

We stopped at a store, then headed back to Pella to pick up Laurel.  We got there around 1pm--she had slept until about 12:30pm, and was actually feeling better and playing a little bit when we got there.  By about 3pm her tylenol had run out, and she went back to sleep for a few hours after we gave her more.  She didn't eat much for supper, and fell asleep early that night.

Sunday morning she didn't want breakfast and was still hot and sleepy.  Scott stayed home from church with her, and she slept the whole morning!  At lunch she asked for oatmeal--I fed her about half a bowl, and then she promptly threw it all up all over me!  She then slept the afternoon away.  Sunday night she pepped up a little bit, ate some crackers, and played with her toys for a while before going to sleep for the night.

Monday she was a little peppier, although still not eating a lot of food.  Monday afternoon she developed diarrhea...very stinky, very yucky, and I'm thankful she wears diapers!  Scott is out of town for the week for work, so I'm taking care of Laurel on my own this week.  Today she is feeling better, and actually ate some food for breakfast and lunch!
How Laurel has spent most of the last 3 days--on someone's lap, half asleep.

Laurel on Sunday night when she found a little energy.  Fun watching the balls go down the spiral!
