Omaha Weekend

At the end of July we had made plans to go to Western Iowa and visit with family, but those plans didn't quite work out.  However, Melanie and Nate had both taken that weekend off from work, so we decided to go out to Omaha and spend a day with them.  We drove out on a Friday afternoon, met Scott's Mom and Melanie for supper, then went to a local splash park to let the kids run around and play.

I remember taking swimming lessons as a kid.  Actually, I remember screaming the whole way to swimming lessons, screaming on the side of the pool, and screaming bloody murder when they wanted me to put my face in the water.  Laurel likes the water, but doesn't put her face in.  Nicolas, on the other hand, LOVES water, and always put his face and head wherever the strongest spray of water was.  I have no idea where he got that love of water from, but I might have to sign him up for swimming lessons!

On Saturday we met Melanie and Nate at the Omaha Zoo.  The place was packed, and we were happy to have 4 adults to 2 toddlers.

We were at the zoo from 10am to 4pm, then headed home.  When we stopped in Des Moines for supper, we discovered that our feet and legs were really sore from all that walking!  We had a lot of fun and it was good to be able to spend a whole day with Melanie and Nate.
