Baking & Birthdays

I have been working on eating healthier, but also still trying new recipes and making things to share with others.  Here are some examples of our kitchen ventures.

Ham balls

Cinnamon rolls from scratch, before I put on the frosting.  These were delicious, although next time I will add more "goo" in the middle.

Today I make oatmeal bread.  I have found that my tummy feels much better if I avoid white flour/processed gluten-type foods.  So I thought I would make some healthy bread--this is oatmeal bread with wheat flour, white flour, rye flour, and oats.  Yum yum yum...
Last weekend we had a big birthday celebration: Dad (Jan 26), Tim (Jan 22), Hannah (golden bday...12 on Feb. 12) and Scott (Feb. 14).  We had a birthday brunch at my parents house.

Hannah wasn't quite sure what to think about the crazy candles lighting back up over and over again.
My sister Lynn brought Hannah and 5 of her friends to Des Moines to the mall in the afternoon.  Imagine driving 6 chatty pre-teens one hour to the mall...yikes!  The kids went to a movie, and Lynn got to enjoy some alone time without children or a stroller, so it turned out fun for everyone!
