The Great Road Trip 2011--Part 1

Scott and I are taking a two week road trip vacation.  We brought our bikes, but so far it has either been raining or freezing, so they have been just sitting in the hotel room.  Tomorrow the forecast calls for 100% chance of rain, so we probably won't be getting on any bike trails tomorrow...but, here are a few pictures from our road trip so far!

Snake Alley in Burlington, IA.  Every time we drive through on a vacation I make Scott get off the highway and drive down the curviest road in Iowa...new Platt family tradition!

First stop--Cincinnati.  Because it rained all morning, we decided not to ride bikes, and instead went to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.  Great museum!  And the Reds ballpark was right across the street!

We didn't actually plan to attend a baseball game, but when we finished at the museum, it was almost time for the game to start, so we just crossed the street, bought tickets, and watched the game!

On Wednesday we went to the Creation Museum. 

Thursday we drove to Pittsburgh.  After checking into the hotel, we decided to drive to the top of Mt. Washington, check out the scenery, and ride the Inclines.

We ate supper at Buca di Beppa.  The restaurant was decorated will all kinds of framed pictures from the 50's.  This was one of the pictures by our booth, and I kept looking at it because the blonde lady on the right looks remarkably like my Grandma Evenhouse when she was that age!

Here is a picture from the Freedom Center.  A slave had packed himself into a box this size and shipped himself to Philedelphia and freedom...the slave had been about the same size of Scott.  That would have been a very uncomfortable trip!
