Laurel has now been home for almost a week, and is 9 days old.
| Dad brings Laurel into the house for the first time. Unfortunately, the car seat with the baby in it is heavier than I am supposed to lift right now. |
So far, Laurel is adorable and well-behaved. We are working to get her used to sleeping in her crib from the very beginning, so she doesn't end up sleeping in our room until she is 15. So far we have "good" nights about every other night. One night she will sleep for 3 hours, nurse, sleep for 3 hours, nurse, etc, with no problem. The next night she refuses to nurse (even though she's hungry) and will instead cry for an hour, finally nurse, then only sleep if she is on top of you in the recliner.
She is developing some personality traits:
| She only sucks on a pacifier on occasion (she would much rather be nursing...in fact, she was back up over her birth weight in 6 days, which even impressed the doctor). |
| Laurel doesn't really like tummy time, although she loves to sleep on her chest...if she is lying on Mommy or Daddy. |
| She definitely doesn't like to be naked! She often cries like this when changing her diaper as well. |
| She likes to sleep on her boppy pillow. NOTE: after this nap I did see on the boppy tag that you are not supposed to let your child sleep on the boppy pillow ever!! I did a little research, and boppys have been linked to about 4 cases of SIDS where kids were sleeping on a boppy in their crib and suffocated, thus the warning label. We decided it was ok for the occasional nap while attended by a parent. :) |
| She doesn't mind being held by lots of different people. Here she is with Scott's brother and family...they were here for about 3 hours, and Laurel did not even wake up once! |
| Her cousin Garion likes her. He held her on his lap for about 10 minutes, and kept saying, "she's cute!" |

| She doesn't like her arms swaddled. In fact, this is the position she usually sleeps in. |
