2013 High Performance Camp

June 8-11 was our annual High Performance Volleyball Camp for my job.  About 300 girls tried out for a spot at the camp (we took 50 in each age group, plus a one day camp for the really young ones).  At camp they learn a lot, play a ton of volleyball, and also are competing for a spot on our HP travel teams, that will compete at the HP Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in July.  We have held this camp at William Penn University in Oskaloosa for the last 5 years--it's a great facility, they work with us really well, and I especially like it because it is in my hometown, so I get to sleep at home in my own bed instead of in a dorm room!

Scott had to take a large number of hours of comp time for work, so we were able to coincide his time off with my work time, and Laurel spent 4 days with Daddy (and with Melanie, who came to visit for a couple days!).  I spent my time in the gym, taking pictures, making sure all the admin parts of camp went smoothly, and trying to get ahead on some other work so that I could spend a little time with Scott later in the week!
Camp Huddle:  IIIIIooooowa!  Our lead coaches were Jeff Nygaard (Olympian both indoors and on the beach), Gabe Gardner (2 time Olympian indoors), and Erikka Gulbranson (coached Olympians).

We had a boys camp at the same time.  The younger guys were struggling a bit in this drill, so Gabe stepped in and played with them.  He hit the ball a few times, and put a little sting on it!  Later that day I had two of the younger guys tell me excitedly that they passed up one of Gabe's hits!  Best part of their camp!

I set up a mini-office by some tables in the PAC and worked there.  Here I am in my cage.
