Laurel is about 5 1/2 months old now, and is showing a lot of interest in our eating. We decided to introduce her to rice cereal a few days ago. She doesn't cry when we feed it to her (unlike when we try to give her a bottle...she screams then!), but she did make some classic faces! I mixed it with some breast milk so that she would recognize the taste. At first I made it really thin, but I think that was too much like trying-to-feed-her-milk-in-another-way (kinda like a bottle...not good). When we make it thicker, she eats it a little better.
After about a week of trying, she eats and swallows a few bites. And she has learned how to spit things out really well. Scott has to work in Council Bluffs all next week, and Laurel and I are going along. I'm going to leave the rice cereal at home, give her a week off, and then try again when we get home. One of these days, someone else will be able to feed her.
