I try to come up with some sort of craft or fun thing to do with Laurel once a week while her brother is sleeping. This gives her special Mommy-attention time, and let's her try more grown-up things without little baby hands grabbing at everything! Earlier this month I saw instructions for how to made an exploding snow man, so Laurel and I did that one afternoon!
I got the "recipe" from the website www.funathomewithkids.com The dough is basically baking soda, a little dish soap, and a little salt. The "explosion agent" is vinegar. I ran out of white vinegar after the first snowman and had to use apple cider vinegar for the second round...it gave the resulting foam a lovely brownish hue.

| I had a couple sprigs of fake berries, and Laurel had fun sticking those all over the snow man. |
| Laurel was very proud of her first snowman. |
| Adding more berries during round 2. |
| The initial melting action |
| You get a lot of foam from a small amount of dough! I didn't even melt the second snow man all the way, and the pan was over half full of foam. |
I am also going to include a video of us melting the first snow man. I didn't realize that this would be such a traumatic experience for Laurel. We had talked about what was going to happen, and I thought she would be ok with melting it!
