"Christmas" with the Platt's

We weren't able to spend any of the holidays with Scott's side of the family, so we made plans to spend the last weekend in January in Western Iowa.  We stopped in Creston to visit with Grandma Burkhalter, and had lunch with her at the old folk's home.
Grandma (who is 91) and Scott (who is 41)
Then we went to Hancock and spent the night with Scott's Mom and Jim.  We had a serious game of dominoes, and Diana kicked out butts...just can't beat Mom at games!  On Saturday Melanie came over for the day, and we opened our Christmas presents.
Melanie painted a picture for the baby's room.

She also gave us some great "gender neutral" baby clothing!

And a giraffe doll!

After we got home we used the steam vacuum on the floors in the new study, and after it dried, even moved a few pieces of furniture.  Now we have to wait for the people to come and move our internet connection, and then we can finish moving the desks and get started on a room for the baby!

This past weekend was pretty busy.  We both had doctor appointments on Friday (Scott had his annual physical...not much fun; I just had a baby check up and it was fine), then I had to go to Des Moines for work.  On Saturday we did some stuff around the house, then my mom and sisters threw a baby shower for me in the afternoon.  On Sunday we went to church, took part in a baked goods auction at church, went to our class all afternoon, then went to a Super Bowl party.  This morning I (Colleen) slept in, and then just kinda sat on the sofa and answered emails and did other data entry work all day.  After 3 busy days in a row, I knew I wouldn't feel real great today.

Here's a pregnancy update:
  • I am now at 32 weeks.  My due date (40 weeks) is April 5.  37 weeks is considered full term, and the doctor said he won't induce me before 42 weeks, unless it's medically necessary.  Here's to giving birth at 37 weeks!
  • The baby has dis-proportionately long legs.  I hope that means it will be tall!
  • The baby moves a lot, and throws a dance party in my belly from about 9pm until about 1am every night.
  • I read that in the third trimester of pregnancy you can get indigestion since your stomach is now pushed up against you esophagus by your baby belly.  They were correct.
  • I didn't gain a single pound in the last two weeks!  That is probably the last time I will be able to say that for a while.  :)

  1. Isn't it funny how quickly you start to say, "Okay, I'm ready to have this baby now!"?
