This past Saturday I went to the Des Moines Farmer's Market with a group of ladies from church. I had considered bringing Laurel along with me (since she won't take a bottle from Scott and needs to eat!), but since the temp was predicted to be 100+ degrees, instead I asked my Mom to take care of her for the day (since she has taken a bottle from Mom in the past). I had fun at the farmer's market, and since it was so hot we didn't stay too long and I was home by 1pm. The babysitting ended up being a tag team project, as Lynn and Doug also wanted to see Laurel. However, Laurel was not willing to take a bottle from ANYONE. It was nice to get away for the morning, but not so nice to know that as long as she is only nursing and not eating any other food, she pretty much as to be with me all the time in order to eat. Guess I have a few more months of non-stop child care.
When I finally got back to Pella Saturday around 1pm, I fed the baby right away (she had screamed herself to sleep, so at least she was quiet!). We had learned that Uncle BJ and Aunt Pat Huizenga were going to be in town for the evening--they are in the process of moving from California to Michigan, and due to a car problem were not on schedule with their hotel stops, and decided Pella was a good stopping place for an evening! I decided to go home for a few hours (and took Rhea and Olivia with me), then we all came back to Pella for supper. Carrie & Tim also came down, so we had a good family dinner (minus Jim, who had to work).

Kendall loves playing with her new cousin.

Carrie & Lynn look really nice in this picture...however none of the kids are looking at the camera.

Laurel and Uncle Tim. Laurel has now discovered her hands...and puts them in her mouth all the time.
|
Uncle Doug asked Kendall if she could lick her toes...nice trick!
Mom went all out and made a delicious dinner--Grandma's famous sloppy joes, fresh Iowa sweet corn on the cob, blueberry cobbler. Yum yum!
