Laurel is not attending any pre-school this year, but I am working to teach her and get her ready to start school. She is learning her letters, starting to add small numbers, and really likes to read. I have a book about teaching kids her age based around books, and one of the books we read led us to learning about trees. I've been teaching Laurel (and Nicolas) the names of all the parts of a tree, what happens when they die or fall over, what animals live in trees, where wood is used, etc. We continued in that theme by doing an art project I had seen on Pinterest. I painted a trunk, branches, and grass on a big piece of paper. Then I put a bunch of different colors of paint on a plate, and we used the bottom of pop bottles to paint leaves on the tree.

| Laurel tended to smear all the different colors together, so the leaves looked a bit gray. Overall, I thought it looked nice! The tree is now hanging on the wall by Laurel's bed. |
 |
| The leaves are falling off the tree and to the ground because it is Autumn. |

| Lately I've been letting both Laurel and Nicolas walk when we go to the post office, instead of putting Nico in the stroller. I do put the leash on him so that he doesn't run away--that kid is fast! Last time Laurel decided they needed to hold hands. |
