A few weekends ago we drove to Lake Red Rock in Pella with our friends Jake and Elaina to ride bikes on the Volkweg Bike Trail. The dam at Lake Red Rock is being converted to a hydroelectric dam, so parts of the trail are closed, and we had to start mid-trail. We rode about 4 miles, then discovered that part of the trail was under water and not passable! Our bike ride was cut a little short, and we turned around and headed back to our cars.
We decided to stop at the NatureScape play area to let the kids out of the Burley and run around. Plus, we are working on building a nature park similar to this in University Park, so I wanted to check it out and take some pictures.
Laurel spent almost the whole time pretending to paddle in the wooden canoe. Nicolas spent most of the time with two sticks pretending to play the drums.

| We have been playing a lot of MarioKart on the Wii lately, and Laurel has decided that she is Big Mario. She wears red almost every day, and kept saying "Big Mario is in the canoe!!!" |
