Sick Kiddo

For about 2 weeks after our trip to the Farmer's Market, Laurel had periods of sickness.  She would be fine for a couple days, then all of a sudden she would say, "I'm not feeling very good," go lie down on the sofa, and hardly move for 12-24 hours.  Her temp would get up to about 101, and she said she had a headache, and she would sleep.  Then after a day or so of that, she would jump up and be totally normal for a couple days, then suddenly lie down on the sofa again.  This went on for a couple weeks!  Nicolas had his 18 month well-child check-up last week, so we brought Laurel in at the same time.  Her throat was pretty red, but a strep test came out negative.  The doctor thinks she had a mild case of strep or some other viral thing, and she was almost over it.  No need for antibiotics, and by that point she was almost over it and not contagious.  For the past week she has been fine, so I think she finally got it all out of her system!

While I don't like it when the kids are sick, it was a very relaxing week for me.  We didn't go very many places, and Laurel took NAPS!  She hasn't napped since she was 18 months old!  I had numerous days where BOTH KIDS NAPPED AT THE SAME TIME!  I took the opportunity to get some stuff done in the house, but also gave myself time to sit absolutely still and read for a whole hour.  That is a rare occurrence.

"I'm not feeling very good."

"My forehead hurts!"

"I'm just going to lay down for a while."

"I'm feeling a little better, so I'm going to sit on the chair instead of the sofa."

"My tummy is hurting me."
