April is over...where did it go? Most of April for me was spent working and going to volleyball events. Laurel had her first birthday on April 7, and despite our greatest efforts, we weren't even able to celebrate until the 9th! And no, she did not eat any of her cupcake (surprise!).
The next three weeks after that, I ended up going to Des Moines to work in the office at least 2 of the weekdays, then spending Friday through Sunday in Des Moines working High Performance tryouts and Regionals. During the week Laurel spent the day with my Mom and my sister Lynn, and on the weekend Scott took care of her. And of course Scott still is very busy, and was even gone overnight a few times during the week. I am typically a part time (20-25 hours a week) worker, and I was putting in 60-70 hours a week all month! Crazy!
I also had to work on my birthday, April 27. But, my boss decided to bless me by giving me April 28 off. This was nice for me, but I felt a little guilty as it was the last day of Jr. Regionals, and everyone else was there until approximately 1am cleaning up and taking down folding chairs and courts!
When I finally got home around 9pm on April 27, I was excited to see that Scott had baked me a cake! He did mention that it was difficult finding a chance to bake and to also wash the dishes while taking care of the baby...believe me, I totally agree!

| Happy Birthday, Mommy! I turned 35 this year...a tough one because I am now officially closer to 40 than I am to 30. |

| Scott and Laurel gave me a fun apron |
On April 28 we went to church, had our Sunday afternoon class, took a field trip for class to a funeral home, then got home and decided that weather was too nice to be inside! After supper we went out on the front porch with some books, and eventually ended up playing in the yard.

| Laurel's book is about body parts--"Where is your nose?" She is getting better at pointing at the correct body part every time...but her nose is definitely her favorite! |
 |
| Laurel is so close to being able to walk. Every time she does it, she thinks it is hilarious! I was having her stand about 3 feet away from me, and then she would walk/fall toward me, laughing the whole time. |

| Look at the acorn, Mommy! |
 |
| Here's I come! |
 |
| Scott threw her really high into the air. |
 |
| Ha ha ha! |
 |
| The whole time she was on my shoulders, she wanted to give me kisses. |
Love the apron!
