Iowa Cubs Game

This past week my niece, Emily, was singing the national anthem at the Iowa Cubs game at noon in Des Moines with her Pella MS 6th grade choir.  My sister and brother-in-law were planning to go to the game with my nephew, so Laurel and I came along as well.  It was a little cold when we got there, but once we sat down in the sun, we were plenty warm.
Laurel really liked the giant blow-up Cubbie

This is the best shot I could get of Emily while they waited to sing...she is the one with the really blonde ponytail.

As they were standing there, Cubbie Bear suddenly waded into the middle of the 6th graders.  They all jumped, then laughed and gave him high fives.

Laurel looks like she is watching the game!  The Cubs played the Las Vegas 51's.  It was a double header, and the ICubs scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th (the last inning because of the double header) to win the first game.  We left after two innings in the second game, and I'm not sure who won that one.

Garion really enjoyed having a snow cone all for himself, with no sisters around to share it with!

Laurel did not take a nap during the game, but she sure looked tired!  She fell asleep approximately 1 minute after we got in the car to go home.
