We planned to stain the deck this weekend. On Friday morning Scott went outside to wash the deck, and our brand new power washer would not run! That was a little frustrating, but it did open up our weekend for other opportunities. Friday night a friend posted on facebook that she had 5 tickets available for the Iowa State volleyball match on Saturday afternoon, and we decided to take them and go to the game.
Saturday morning Scott mowed the lawn while I drove to Sigourney to pick up our half of a hog that we recently purchased. Mmmm...bacon. After lunch as drove up to Ames. We left early because there was an 11am Iowa State football game in Ames, and we knew we would be running into some of the tailgating traffic as we made our way to Hilton Coliseum for the volleyball match. We had almost a whole row to ourselves, which was good because it allowed Laurel to run around a little bit during the match and not have to sit in one place.

| Getting ready for the match to begin |
We pointed out Cy the Cardinal to Laurel, and she spent most of the match pointing out where he was (except she called him a Chicken - HA!) When he came by our row, she even went over and gave him a high five.
ISU was playing against Northern Illinois University. Iowa State won it in 3, and mostly dominated throughout the match. It was fun to watch them play because I appreciate good volleyball, but also because there are a few girls on the team who I have gotten to know through the Iowa High Performance program, and it is wonderful to see them competing at the college level.
It was a 4:30pm match, so we were able to stop for supper on the way home and still get home around 9pm, which is not too late for the kiddos. However, the car ride home was not great, as Laurel woke Nicolas up about 35 minutes before we got home, and both children proceeded to cry for the rest of the car ride.
