We bought a gate for the top of our staircase a year ago when we moved into this house. However, at the same time Laurel figured out how to walk up and down stairs by herself, so we didn't put it up. Plus, at that time she really didn't wander around that much by herself and get into things (because she is a girl). Fast forward a year, and now Laurel takes any opportunity she can to go downstairs and get into trouble, especially when Scott is working in his office down there. Plus, Nicolas is now rolling all over the floor and getting into everything (because he is a boy). So we decided it was a good time to put up the gate.
